Shining Wisdom guide

Postby Curious Orange » Tue Feb 03 2009 1:04pm

I'm currently attempting to play through all the Shining games and am now up to Shining Wisdom in my list.

Although I did complete it once before many many years back, I recall getting a bit annoyed with it and using a walkthrough guide.

It might have been that I was just rubbish at it then and will be fine now, but I'd like to have one on hand, just in case.

Can anyone recommend one they have found to be pretty comprehensive and complete? Ta.

I think One Thing Shining is much handier. Not at all a hand-holding guide, and the map(found by clicking on "locations") is one of the most useful things I've found in any game guide. It's basically a scan of the map of Odegan that came with the Japanese version of the game, with interface such that clicking on any location brings up a brief on where it is and how to get in. Or if you can't figure out where a certain place is(which describes almost a third of the gameplay of SW), it has a handy list of locations which link to those same briefs.

Cheers, the map in One Thing Shining should certainly prove useful!

I'm currently using a guide from GameFAQs to just check the order in which I'm supposed to do things - I have minimal patience for pointless wandering, but when I know where I'm heading I actually like the game.

All the Shining references at the start are nice too :)

By the way, which version of the game are you playing? JAP, USA, or EU? Just curious.

The EU version, so I can read it, but I don't have to put up with the shoddy transaltion - best of both worlds ;)

Yep, wish I could have gone that route. Couldn't find it for a reasonable price though, so I got the Japanese one. Which worked out pretty well, since the only text you have to deal with is the storyline script.

I actually still own it from when I bought it when it first came out - it was the third game I ever bought for the Saturn (after X-Men:COTA and Theme Park).

Although, since all my Saturn stuff in in storage at my parents I'm playing this on emulation.

I remember seeing it on the ironing board with a few other mail ordered saturn games and thinking 'that looks fun'.
