Was I the only one that thought they had something between them at the start of SoH/Book II? :)

Prince of a nation (really uncrowned king), leader of the shining force overall, all around badass, yeah Nick has a flock.

Yep, exactly. I even covered Natasha's schoolgirl crush on Nick in-depth in my fanfics "The King's Friends" and "Deanna and Natasha".

I always assumed it was Dee Anna. Interestingly enough, the Japanese guidebook for SFCD lists him as Shuu.

Shuu sounds better, Dee Anna sounds a bit girly lol

Yeah, don't know what the localization team was smoking when they came up with that one.

Yup, in english it's a girl's name and usually pronounced Dee Anna (but occasionally DEE Na).

Maybe it was some sort of in-joke or something. I mean, despite the kinda girly/emo hair, he's really not androgynous enough to mistake him for a chick.

Also I didn't think the game was that hard, maybe because the game originally came out on Game Gear and back then it was aimed at kids :) what do you guys think?

Really? I've only ever heard it pronounced DAY - nah. That's how the one Deanna I've known in real life pronounces it, and also, anyone remember Star Trek: The Next Generation?

I've always thought of Deanna as a very androgynous name, like Terry, Pat, and Kim. SF CD Deanna isn't the first male of that name I've encountered.

Books 1 and 2 are actually considerably harder than Shining Force Gaiden I and II by design. I created a thread listing off all the differences some years ago, but off the top of my head, the stats of all the enemies were increased by a percentage, there are some additional enemies, Demon Breath does a LOT more damage, and they did several more creative modifications, like making the cracks around Evil Monster inaccessible.

The game only seems not that difficult to us because we have played games in the series numerous times. To someone playing the series for the first time back in 1994 - kid or adult - it would be much more challenging. Even in terms of the series, in retrospect I'd say it's one of the harder ones. It's easier than SF2, but unquestionably harder than SF3 Scenario 2 or any of the three Gaidens, and about even with SF3 Scenarios 1 and 3. SF1 is harder, but mainly because of RNG factors; in terms of actual strategy, SF CD is more challenging.

Yeah i remember the final battles in Books 1 and 2 are quite challenging but the rest of the game is cake :) specially with my Domingo. I guess if i did play it in 1994, i wouldv'e got anniliated lol.

Except it is pronounced DeeAnna on ST:TNG, not Daynah.

Also: http://inogolo.com/pronunciation/Deanna

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deanna

So, while it can be pronounced other ways, the most common pronunciations is DeeAnna.

Yeah, I realized that just a couple hours after I made that post. I guess my head overwrote my real life acquaintance's name pronunciation into my memory of the show. So yeah, everyone can disregard my argument, though personally I don't think I'll ever be able to think of his name as anything but "DAY - nah".

Sorry for necroing previous posts, but I just wish to talk a little bit about this fanfic. Personally I don't think Nick and Natasha really like each other as the game portrays Natasha just being loyal to serve Nick like any other soldier. Now Mayfair on the other hand, she may be oblivious to how Nick has a raging hard on for her (see the ending of Book 4).
