Series order?

Postby Grenade » Sat Mar 12 2011 8:35pm

Is SF: Gaiden Final Conflict the same as SF Gaiden 1?
I want to play through the entire series in chronological order (up to SF3) but I'm confused as to the order.
I thought it was:
Shining Force
Shining Force Gaiden
Shining Force Gaiden 2
Shining Force Gaiden 3: Final Conflict
Shining Force 2
Shining Force 3 (Parts 1, 2, and 3)

I can't seem to find an english ROM for Gaiden though, it's only Gaiden 2 and 3.
And what exactly is Shining Force CD? Is it just Gaiden 1 and 2 packaged together?
Could somebody fill me in on what I'm missing?

Sword of Haiya (or however it's spelled) is the only Gaiden that was released, it being the second one (and it's Gaiden 1 and 2, not 2 and 3). Shining Force CD contained the translations for both Gaidens, translated and with a facelift along with additional content.

You'll want to update that list, unless you're sticking to just Force games:

Shining Force
* Shining Force Gaiden
* Shining Force Gaiden 2: Sword Of Hajya
Shining Force Gaiden 3: Final Conflict
Shining Force 2
Shining In The Darkness
Shining Wisdom
Shining The Holy Ark

Shining Force 3

* Ideally replace these with Shining Force CD - as Omega Entity pointed out, this will also include the Book 3 & 4 adventures amongst other features.

So from what I gather, if I wanted to play it in order I'd play the Shining Force CD, Final Conflict, then SF2?
