Wait... How do you activate these? It's been some time since I've popped Feather into my DS, but I don't remember those characters ever using those abilities.

Ah, now I got it. I misunderstood your first post.

I never noticed those last two, though. The Jin one, especially... I guess that one makes sense, since he is a treasure hunter after all! I'll have to remember to send him after the treasure chests.

Wow. That's a nice subtle touch. I noticed that Jin was better at opening chests but I thought it was a damage type thing...good to know it's not.

Translated with help from Google Translate.

Jin:
- Longer range for union cover. (needs testing) (how much?)
- Break chests in one hit (rather than just double damage).

Bale:
- When unioning with a female character, force bonus (you get bonus force?) (needs testing) (how much?)

Miriam:
- +25% effectiveness from HP recovery items.
- - Another +25% (additive?) from these three items:
パルパルの干物
ヘモレゲの干物
トンラナカの干物

Teeda:
- Bonus damage against a higher-level enemy. (how much?)

Julius:
- Google Translate: "MOV absorbs enemy a chance to attack at close. Pattern varies depending on the probability of occurrence of the enemy LV." No idea.

Rush:
- Range is extended when in critical (literally "at HP 30% or less"). (by how much?)
- Break chests in one hit (rather than just double damage).

Grizelia:
- HP recovers when melee attacking.

Balbazan:
- Bonus damage against a lower-level enemy. (how much?) (strictly lower?)

The list might not be complete. They don't have Cocot's HP recovery.

====

Also on that page, special union conversations: when these pairs of characters are union'd, they have a special conversation. Usually, the pre-union speech is just their normal pre-battle speech. There are two different conversations per pair, depending on which character is initiating the union.
- Jin/Rush
- Jin/Grizelia (what?)
- Miriam/Julius
- Teeda and Balbazan
- Bale and Cocot.

I only discovered Jin/Rush a few days ago, and only found the second and third last night. Fortunately, this list exists on that page.

Jin Union/Connect Range = 12
you can't open a 9HP Chest with one 20FC Attack

EDIT = but you can open a 9HP Chest with one 15FC Normal Attack O_o

why "what?" about Jin & Grizeria???

nice other abilities... but Julius...

oh, and Cocot can fly  (... float)

My knowledge of Japanese is too specific to read the conversations, so I didn't know they had any special relationship.

With Google translate (the actual page and not the page translator) the translator gives you alternate translations for words and allows you to rearrange order of words. For Julius' MOV line I suggest he simply has a chance to absorb enemy MOV on melee attacks.
For the other line, I'd suggest that the "Probability of occurence pattern" varies depending on/is changed by enemy LV (level). Now if you leave "probability of occurence pattern" alone in GTrans it goes to probability pattern. If you add to that the "varies" part it becomes "seems that the probability of occurence is changed", pattern changes to "seems". Bottom line? I think there's a formula somewhere where something needs calculation and Julius gets to take into account enemy LV while others don't, presumably giving him an edge. I don't think it's turn order. That could leave us with the timing bar for attacks. I wouldn't know though, he has pretty high AGI on my end, so I wouldn't see the diference I think. Gonna need the help of someone who knows japanese on this one.

Julius
Absorption of the enemy's MOV at a certain probability during a close-ranged attack
The activation rate seems to vary depending on the enemy's LV
