Shining Wind Question

Postby Marky » Wed Dec 19 2007 4:17am

Just a simple question looking for a simple answer. Has this game been released in the States?

No. It probably won't be or else Sega would have announced it by now. It got low scores from Famitsu, and I assume the bomba that was Shining Tears made Sega decide not to bring this one over. Which is a shame, because Shining Tears was not as bad as some media outlets

WARNING: SPOILER!

made it out to be.

Nuts. I'd really been thinking of getting Shining Wind. Being a late-coming Shining fan, it would be the first new game in the series I bought. There's Shining Force Exa, but I'm just not comfortable putting down money for a game with "Force" in the title that's not a Force game. Shining Wind doesn't present any such ethical issue.

Famitsu only rates mainstream stuff highly and FF games. I've never seen them rate any niche game highly. Ever.

MXC said .. "It was only released in Japan on May 17, 2007." And Tarethen said Sega hasn't announced if/when they will even port it to EU.

Etrian Odyssey is extremely popular in Japan. As are book rpgs. In fact RPGs, be it in video game or tabletop/book format where players create roles or follow a ruleset and allow players to modify a setting using set characrs or rules are alot more ommon in Japan, believe it or not.

For instance I'm playing Night Wizard and giving Kaze no Stigma a try myself at the moment.

Most outside of Japan won't know this though.

Most outside of Japan don't know about Etrian, so I guess Etrian is our niche and popular in Japan. My mistake.

But, I wouldn't exactly call Shining series games niche, either. But, Wind was the lowest scoring one out of the four that have come out. Even Exa got a respectable score, but of course it gets the most flak here in America.

No worries, some of their tabletop rpgs/book rpgs actually become well recieved enough to become Anime or have video game versions. look up Night Wizard. (kaze no Stigma was a reverse though.) ^^

The thing i find most amusing about EXA is that its the one game where SEGA Japan was just being plain lazy when it came to production and alot of Japanese reviewers were just blindly ignoring that when they reviewed the game.

Having played Wind to its entirety I actually enjoyed it more then EXA. Of course in the end my opinion remains my own.

I feel sorry for Japanese illiterate gamers who want to play Wind though.

I'd like to get Wind. But I can't seem to find it on eBay. Play-Asia has it but the price is pretty steep. Any other sites that might have it, at a reduced price?

I feel like a cheap person, but if I can get it cheaper I'd like to.

So why did Shining Wind get such bad reviews? And what is the story all about? I thought the battle game play looked pretty cool...

Nope.

Anyway theres a cheaper Best version out.

Also on the PC theres a fan disc with an epilouge for the game after its ending. Very nice, although in visual novel format.

The Phone version SW cross, continues for the others that remained.
