Special Attack

I believe there is more support for Meteor, but out of respect for Lord Oddeye (who likes Salamander Throw) I want to make it official.

This is about the only one that still seems a bit undecided.

I chose meteor

mainly because the spear sounds more like it should be mercury spear, and the planet mercury is closest to the sun, therefore hotter

So of course I voted Salamander Throw. The reason is that salamanders in most games are reptilian-like creatures that represent the element of fire. And incidentally, the trail of fire this spear is leaving behind after being thrown is shaped like a serpent. (even as it's hiting you can see this fire serpent lingering around the foe to squeeze it right before disappearing.)
That's why I think Salamander Throw fits better than Meteor.

I like both names and would jump on Salamander Throw but... I have looked at this thing one frame at a time and I can't definitively see any serpent image. That swirl at the end looks similiar to the effect in other specials... just in fire here.

Go to the now playing options of WMP, then enhancements, then Play Speed Settings and use the next frame arrow.

I'm not going to vote... I just hope I don't have to break a tie :(

I have to say Meteor. Salamander Throw isn't a bad name, but Meteor is better. And it fits better.

Meteor is, technically, already taken.

That being because it's a secret weapon, and can only be accessed by cheating :p

My point is, there shouldn't be two weapons, of the same type, with the same special.

That's a good point but I think they also changed it to something else. Couldn't find 2 "Meteor" in the list of specials.
Although if we can rename this other spear's special to Meteor, that would make sense and end this debate. Just a thought.

This is a good point.

Is there anyone with a GameShark (that also knows how to use it) that could attain all the secret weapons with specials.

Use the patch when playing and when the special comes up record the name of the special as it is displayed.

This will allow me to find this location.

Since these appear to be the developer's throw away weapons, they may be reading from the same lines. The Comet Spear and Mer. Spear specials may have the same name because they are reading from the same place. In which case there is no way to make them different.

But if they are reading from different lines, we can edit them independently.

Ya it does.

The gamesharking is easy, and I'd do it if my Saturn still worked.

Aaand...Would it be possible to restore these weapons? If you had the data and everything? If so, I could try and contact Ferybug (dude who made the site) and ask him about it.

If we could make the Comet Spear available, then I'd happily switch my vote to Salamander Throw.

We can't make the weapons any more available, but we do need them to be correct for those that choose to attain them with a GS.

I can spot most of them (on the Special Attacks.doc), but a couple appear to be different.

This is something we need to iron out. Any volunteers with a GS? ...or someone who knows how to use the GS features of an emulator? It may have to be cassini...
