Today I resumed my playthrough of SF3 from a couple of years back, covering the end of Sc1 Chapter5 and the fisrst couple of Chapter 6 battles.

After defeating Braff, I noticed Basnda make a bit of an odd remark after recovering him (with screengrab attached):

"-smirkish- We will control the secrets of the ancients, and make Aspia the capital of the Bulzome theocracy."

Was "-smirkish-" a remnant from the original English (or Japanese) script, or something that was added in? It's assumedly there as a bit of onomatopea, but seems a bit odd or off. What is a "smirkish" supposed to be? Would just "smirk" suffice, or is it implying some other sound/action?

"Smirkish" is an odd way to put it. The intent is that she is saying the line in an arrogant and brash way (as Basanda has a tendency to do), not just having a smirk on her face when she says it.

I don't recall what was implied in the original script if anything.

What if we replace it with "-arrogantly-"? Or maybe you have another suggestion.

SMIRK...

The rest of the line is unchanged.

I suppose -smirk- would accomplish a similar feeling as the flavor intent.

I was also thinking "smirk" would suffice.

Unless there's another short or monosollabic term for "mocking laughter" that could be used instead, but I haven't come up with anything better.

"Snicker" sounds good, but I still think "smirk" would be better here ("snicker" sounds a bit more like Masqurin sticking a "Danger! Kicking Hazard" label onto Dantares's rear

I agree, I think smirk works better.

A smirk is not laughter, a smirk is a facial expression. Martin Shkreli is known (and disliked) for his smirk. As for the game, it should be something like (*smirk*) to show that it is a facial expression she is doing while talking. (Could even be a different color)
