Big bug Scenario 2 which prevents from completing the game

Hi there,

I have a big problem in the last battle of Scenario 2, when you have to attack Garion's tank.
In this battle, you control two forces, one outside and one inside the tank.
The battle starts with Medion outside the tank.
Then after Medion's army turn, the game switches you to the other army inside the tank.
Now this is when things go wrong, and it prevents you from finishing the Scenario....
Halfway through this army's turn, the screen becomes all bollocksed, ad then freezes after a few minutes.
if you press A or C enough times, the game switches you back to Medion's army outside the tank, but the bug remains, and once you've moved 2 characters, the game freezes.
I tried several times and it's the same thing every time, happening at the same moment.

Has anyone had this before?

On a side note, the ISO I used to create the patched version comes from my original cd.

Have you tried creating another ISO?

Try to tell me whose turn it is when the problem first appears.

Anyone else ever get this?

I've seen a similar looking error occur before in Scenario 3. It was presumably a faulty ISO that caused it since after making a new one from the disc, repatching and reloading my save it worked fine. It's a simple solution, but hopefully it should work for you!

I created another ISO, and the problem remains.

It happens on turn 6 of the army inside the tank (not the Medion one)

Wasn't this related to Papetts' monsters? Where using a certain type of monster in the battle would crash the game like that. Can't remember which monster it was, though.

I haven't encountered the bug myself, since I didn't tame any monsters. But I've seen other similiar bug reports on this forum before.

Are you saying you go through everyone for 5 complete turns before you see a problem?

Not sure if I understand completely what you mean but, this is what happens:

1. you start outside the tank with Medion army.
2. then you are switched inside the tank with the secondary army led by David.
3. The bug happens during this army's turn, while moving one of the monsters.
4. if you press A or C several (selects "Guard" automatically and you are switched back to Medion's army).
5. After you move 2 characters of the Medion army, the game just freezes with this bug on screen.

So yes, in this instance, it is related to Pappet's monsters...
What should I do?
Please don't tell me I have to restart the game without using Pappet ... :shock:

Can you verify you're using the V12 patch?

Can you verify what monsters you have in your force?

When you first get into the tank, go around to all Pappet's pets and verify each has a name.

Yes It is the V12 patch

The monsters in the amy are: Skeletons, Hell Hounds and Hydra.

The bug happens when I move the second Hydra I have in my army, which is also the last character in the "inside tank" army before being switched back to Medion's army.

So the bug either happens when you move Hydras, or when you move the last character of the "inside army".

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the hydras, take them out (use like Minotaurs instead) and try it again.

I can't take them out.

I did the Heroe's test several times so that Pappet would capture more creatures, but he hasn't.
I don't know what to do............. :-(

I'm not entirely sure, but perhaps you could edit them out with BoneIdol's save editor.

There is no reason a Pappets Hydra should make the game crash.

Try the following files in the Files/s2 folder of the patch before you run the iso.

X5BTL227.bin
X5BTL230.bin

Hi

I have used the files, and the problem remains.

Papet refuses to capture any more monsters in the Heroes Test, si it looks like I'm bound to start Scenario2 all over again... :-(

Unless others are experiencing this issue, I'm inclined to doubt it is an issue with the patch specifically.

Games crash and saves become corrupted... It happens. Could be related to the patching process or not.

You should be able to just jump back to a save before you had Pappets and continue and hope for the best when recruiting pets.

I had a bug in that final battle too. I thought this was solved and had to do with some characters (PC or NPC) names.
Anyway, you probably need not to start all over again. You can simply play with the orginal disc until, say, just before killing Garvin, so that you don't miss too much of the English test.
That's what I would do and did, anyway.

Just use the Japanese disc to get past the battle.

Better yet, use the Japanese disc and go into the battle. Then just send the monsters Pappets has to attack the enemies, and let them die, and then just don't recruit any more. Then you can Return, save, turn off, swap back to the English patched disc and then do the battle again without it crashing :)


I had an older version of the patch that I went all the way through Scenario 2 on, and never had any crashing problems

I have a similar problem with scenario 3. During the credits, after the special thanks, the ssf blocked and I am not able to save. But it's not a problem...tomorrow I will use the original disc and I will do the save.
After that, I will play the premium disc :)

Ok, I do that!!!
But what Mister Gabriel said when you come back to the menu??? :damnit:
