Re: scenario 3 final chapter - crash problem

--EDIT--

I had a post here suggesting there was a problem with the final battle when a certain weapon was equipped. This turned out to be wrong.

Re: Scenario 3 chapter 1 crash issue?

Postby maliciousheart » Mon Oct 25 2010 5:40pm

I have this same problem, I saved just before killing the boss in a regular battle save, switched to the japanese ISO, and then continued on. But I still get the blank screen and I can't continue on to chapter 2.

Everyone else says switching to the japanese version should get me past it but I still get the same problem. Anyone have a solution?

How about some more info from your end? Like are you playing on a Saturn console or emulation (SSF), and do you own the game or just an ISO?

If your playing through emulation, try a different version of SSF. If you downloaded an ISO, try downloading a different one.

And you know a regular battle save is on the system's Internal RAM or External RAM cartridge? Not a save state, in other words.

There is bound to be a bunch of other things you can try, but in the meantime try documenting what you're trying with what results. And then maybe someone here can help you further.
From what I remember about reading Moogie's forum guideline awhile ago, it says that by adding the letters j/k together at the end of a sentence or post, it prevents people from getting upset... So remember South Parkateers, in case of a volcano, stop, drop, tuck and roll. ... Oh wait, er, you know what I mean. ;)

I'm playing on an emulation and using SSF 009 alpha R4. I don't own scenario 3 CD and I have 2 versions of the japanese ISO, both of which give me the same result. My battle save is saved to my internal ram.

I saved just before the last hit on Goriate, changed to the japanese ISO, everything is converted to japanese like normal, but I still get the frozen screen at the end and am unable to proceed. Same thing with a different ISO I downloaded.

I can't figure out the reason.

---EDIT---

After lurking around the forums a little, I decided to try and download a different version of SSF. I used SSF 008 alpha R10 and it worked fine. Leaving the old information in this edit as it might help others that encountered the same problem as I did.

Thanks forums. Now I can finally finish the best series in the entire world. :)

Just using this as a quick notification system for the guys working on the text inputting.

Alpha found that you've mixed up a line at the end of the second chapter:

May as well post this

I was speedrunning through scenario 3 to get a ton of save files a few weeks ago and lost interest halfway through. I made a point of collecting any glaringly obvious bugs in the script I could find.

Chapter 2

Opening Scene

- Donhort - So I decided to cut myself offas well. The only way left for me, after being disappointed with living in this world, is to live with Gracia. (Missing space)
- Besby - ...and why you decided to come to the Empire with Gracia. And I believe my way is also now chosen. (Bad Grammar with the And at start of a sentence, since its dialogue can probably be ignored)

Church Scene with Cyclops and Scholar

- Isabella - Even thought Destonia was saved by\n the Army, you are being driven away. (Line starts with a space and your would make more sense than the)
- Scholar - Then please forgive my protectiveness. (Ideally would be something like "Please forgive me for being overprotective", but there's not a lot of space)

Dragon Graveyard

- Cyclops - I'm sorry the dragons did not listen. (There was only one dragon)

Guarder Fortress

Defenda has someone else's lines - Let us pass, Defenda, and we'll be on our way. There will only be death if you don't let us through! (this is the one you posted Swalchy)

Defenda's battle sprite has the name Blue Dragon 133

Chapter 3 Start

Steel - You are lucky Gracia, next time we meet, I will get you. Bet on in. (Count on it might be better?)

Chapter 3 Headquarters

Melinda - ...From now on, I live for the sake of my sons. (Children, since she has a son and a daughter)

Chapter 3 Produn Battle

Produn - If I don't defeat the Julian army I'll lose you... (Text is so long that it cuts off screen)

Chapter 3 Kudan Battle

Kudan - Who are you? With what purpose... (Missing space after question mark)

Chapter 3 End of Kudan Battle

Kate - Bulzome is more fearsome
than
I had imagined... (than is orphaned in 2nd line)

Synbios - I can't believe this. I never would have thought that the invasion force would be led by y... (cuts off screen on second line)

Medion - It is awkward for us to meet again like this, Synbios.
However,
fate has brought us together. (However is orphaned on second line)

Domaric - Finally, my dearest wish of 20 years has been fulfilled. I, Domaric have returned to the teritory that was stolen by Conrad. (Should be an extra , after Domaric and the line breaks make for some seriously dodgy looking whitespace)

Domaric - Synbios, son of Conrad, eh? The one who defeated Arrawnt... I have many things to thank you
for... (for is a widow on the last line)

Synbios - Prince Medion...
I thought you were
different. No I believe you still are. (silly line breaks)

Dantares - Huh? How does Prince Medion know about Sir Don... (Line cuts off edge of screen)

Domaric - Why are Melinda and Isabella with Republican Sol... (Line cuts off edge of screen)

Isabella - We know you bribed Medion with threats to mother's life to persuade him to help you conquer Aspia. (Coerced would make more sense)

Domaric - How could I have missed this chance?
Even with the loss of Arrawnt...
I thought Bulzome's interfeance... (Screwed line breaks, text has awful whitespace)

Medion - I'd like to escort father back to the Empire first. After that, I will join the
expedition. (expedition is a widow)

Chapter 4 Start

Brigit - You didn't come back, so the queen and I came looking for you. (She's with Isabella, who's the Princess)

Medion - -yelling- Julian, see you in the nor... (Cuts off screen)

When Julian recieves the Justice Sword for saving the refugees, it says his hands are full (when they're not) and that he passed it to Synbios.

Pendolf - Will you allow Pendolf to join your force? (Pendolf is saying this with a portrait, perhaps say "will you allow me to join your force?"

Chapter 4 End

- End text says Chapter ? End

Maya Village Headquarters

Primula - He along with Rodi the Ninja, Lisa the Soldier and several others prevented the fire from spreading to other countries. (Grammar is a bit iffy, also Lisa was a Paladin according to the english STHA)

Before the floodgates open: don't post *too* many errors that all you lovely people see in Scenario 3 - none of it has been released in Beta form yet, so there's probably gonna be quite a lot of spelling and/or text inputting errors.

And I'm not too sure how far along the translation reviewers have got on with checking the text we use for the dialogue, so there's probably gonna be a lot of translational/grammar type issues.

Saying that, I think Boneidol's pretty much notified everyone of the major ones seen in the main translational section of Scenario 3.

So no townsfolk dialogue errors, please :)

They're not that important at the moment :)

I'm playing through Sc3 for the first time, so I thought I may as well note down errors as I go. Couple of things I've noticed.

After you reduce the gate to 0hp at the Barrier battle with Defenda, the game freezes like it did at the end of Chapter 1. You need the disc to continue and allow Defenda to come down. Amusingly, finishing Chapter 2 is fine and doesn't have the Chapter 1 error.

I also noticed a mistake in Steel's lines that BoneIdol missed. Right before he says "We won't be held responsible for anything that happens after we leave her with you", "executed" is spelled "excuted".

Final Chapter - No Released

Postby Koto » Sun Nov 21 2010 3:51am

A silly question here: That means the text in Final Chapter is completely in Japanese?

See ya

Hmmm the script in the Remotest Cathedral are in English. But is strictly IN the cathedral or rather the church chamber. If I am not wrong base and town are no script instead of japanese (LF correct me if town is japanese).

The battle should be in English... ending story some of the English script layout seems to be out of syn.

It's a moot point. The final chapter will be released with the next version of the patch in about a month.

The only major problem is the known freeze when chapter 1 ends. This means you should finish the last fight with the original disc.

Apart from that, only the final chapter isn't translated. All the other chapters, albeit unreviewed by the translators, are in English and they're perfectly playable.

Also, the bookcase is nice and glitched. Not a big deal, though. I'm on the final chapter now, just leveling up in the Hero's Test. I see no reason to wait to play it. Up to this point, all story related scenes work fine. It's only villagers in the final chapter that aren't done yet. You can always look at some of the scripts if you need to as well.

Awesome. I'm already at the final chapter, but I plan on getting everyone in all parties (except the penguins) to second promoted level 20. It will probably take me quite a while since I'll probably get bored of playing the hero test over and over again. Timing should work well.

Do you need the actual disk or just an unpatched scenario three? The problem is when i try the unpatched game, no savestates are loadable from the patched game?

Yeah, that's a feature, not a bug in my eyes. ;)

Even if you could load the savestate the game would probably just crash as soon as it has to read anything off the disc. A savestate is NOT a save file, it is a dump of all the memory (RAM/Graphics RAM/CPU Cache etc.) on the emulated Saturn. That's why it takes 1 MB to store all your save games and ~10 MB to store 1 savestate.

You load a savestate between versions bad things are very likely to happen since whats in the Saturn's memory doesn't match what's on the disc. :(

All you have to do is save the game as you would on an actual Saturn (at a Church/in a Battle) when transfering between the translated and Japanese version of Scenario 3.

Re: problems with scenario 3?

Postby Nirek » Sun Dec 19 2010 3:55am

Speaking of saving as if on an actual Saturn, I am playing through the games on an actual Saturn (an unmodded US Saturn), using the swap trick to start the games. I just finished Scenario 1 and am hoping for Scenario 2 for Christmas. I am wondering, though, if i can get past that Scenario 3 glitch on my Saturn when i get there, in the current state. I can't really use the Japanese disk since my system won't very well play one. I was thinking that i could perhaps rip my Japanese disk, remove the region coding, burn a new disk, and play with that.

anyone know if that will work, or if there is another way to get past the glitch on an (unmodded) US Saturn?
