It's called Shining Force CD. Sorry, but I highly doubt anyone will translate the gaiden when SFCD is around.

It's exceedingly rare (being only in japanese and all) and comes into eBay or very rarely. And when it does, it goes for huge amounts of money usually. Many people will have to just stick with the rom. Which is better in a way, as it's in english

I have only one question... How come z80 hasn't been promoted to "Lesser god of all thing shinny" (A star or 2 less then You moogie) or something like that :p He deserves it!

Just my opinion: Newbie. Doesn't visit often. Hasn't re-translated SFG I for the GG (someone is helping out but a translator will be needed later on). SFG:FC seems like 500x+ smaller than one SFIII game. I'm not sure I could be considered 'shiny' in the SF sense. Very unknowledgeable in the series - still have yet to play any other Shining game or the 'Megatens'. A rank like that would put me above the seasoned regulars, SFC loyalists and gurus - doesn't feel right. And I doofed the credits with the translation patch - bad 'z80 gaiden', no twinkie.

Next patch will be out whenever.

Indeed, whenever :) Might have some time this week, but no guarantees!

SFG1 translator eh... I might be able to find some time for that, especially since the SFCD script should help rather.

I don't forget - I just don't have as much time as you kids.
Please stop hassling me, likewise asking by PM is pointless, it's not like you'll get any news before anyone else. When it's done, it'll go up on the site and news. Going on about it just puts me off doing it.

Just as a lil' update, z80 sent me a few extra strings from the game which were hidden away somewhere. I've just sent him the translations and should get the final bits through from him at some point in the near future. I'll get the patch recompiled then with all the fixes. Huzzah!

Like everyone, I would like to thank you Moogie for that great work ! I mean, it surely one heck of a job to patch a Rom like that. I've personnaly patched some sports roms to include new rosters and things like that but the Shining Force games are especially hard to change. Now I can finally play all the games in a chronological order to understand the full Shining Force story :) (or at least SF1, CD, FC and SFII)

This thread came up at RHDN
http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.p ... 075.0.html
which jogged the memory about the 'mystery level up' event.

This only happens with FC and not the other GG gaidens. And it is an original design by the coders.

To trigger:
- critical monster, get 50 pseudo-EXP
- defeat monster in same hit, get additional 50 pseudo-EXP

If your total pseudo-EXP is exactly 100, then level up without the normal message. Otherwise, you'll get between 48-50 EXP.

This only happens with LV1 characters due to the experience gradient brackets.

Ask Moogie about the math formulas if curious.
