Bookcases

Postby Caedmonball19 » Mon May 05 2014 3:03am

I had decided to create this list for two reasons: 1. Just having a collection of something in the Shining World sounded cool :) 2. I wondered if any books offered insight into back stories on characters. Most books I found do not offer any insight but rather are humorous additions to the game. There are a few however that I think could help someone looking to make a fan game.

Google the book names first, there's likely to be at least a list of the best ones somewhere.

heheh, lurking around huh....I should be the one doing that, from my avatar anyway :D

Those bookcases were never interesting anyway in both SF1 and SF2.
Just go through the game bashing up the enemies and leveling up your characters.
Although in SF2 they were a little more interesting to read lol.

The book cases in SF1...I've always wondered what the Old mans books were(The one who made Gruntz steam powered suit) were called. Also makes me wonder how long Steam Suits existed, because they had to be around before you encounter Gruntz if there are books of them.~

Edit:

List me all the books, then my life shall be complete!~

Okay I updated with Guardania and Runefaust. I had beaten a game when I had the idea and then started a new one. If you are doing a play through send me a list of all bookcases in whatever town you are in.

I only used two. One for primary saving, and a second one that I would use in battle on occasion when I couldn't remember whether or not a ring was damaged before using it.

oh yeah those damaged rings / weapons.
Sadly it doesn't show a sign in the inventory unlike in SF2 which made me lose the White Ring a few times.
I also lost Luke's Apollo / Atlas Axe once and i didn't have an axe to equip. The shop didn't sell any either :(

If anyone of your save states are near the end that would help since I don't know when I will get through the whole game again. I did get Runefaust but anything before that would be a big help.

Both saves are in Chapter 8.

Are there any books in Chapter 8? The final countdown wouldn't involve bookcases :) just bashing up of the enemies.

Added Shade Abbey and Bustoke. Now I have a long wait until there are more books :) I have the cliff battle by Bustoke the road to the bridge and the Laser Eye battle. Uranbatol probbaly doesn't have many either.

One question I have is about a Shade Abbey book...."the legacy of the ancients was created by the gods to confine a vast evil."

So what exactly was the legacy.... the swords? Some things people say make it seem like Dark Dragon was sort of the failed legacy but this book is saying that the legacy was to confine a vast evil....

I imagine "legacy" in the title refers to everything related to Dark Dragon. The book, gates, and whatnot are the legacy for summoning Dark Dragon, and the swords are the legacy for defeating him.

Dark Dragon is the legacy left behind for Darksol with the intention of destruction, and Chaos Breaker is the legacy left behind for Max with the intention of salvation. Both could be considered great intentions, and give the title meaning on two fronts, and in turn relevancy to the story on a larger whole.

*Edit: They could also be one in the same. The items to release Dark Dragon could've been left behind deliberately in order to allow Dark Dragon to one day be revived, hopefully in a day and age where somebody would be able to wield Chaos Breaker with enough strength to actually kill him. Thus, the Legacy of Great Intention was one intended to have Dark Dragon outright destroyed rather than just simply sealed away (granted that's not how things worked out). Otherwise, why would these methods to revive Dark Dragon even exist? Why not destroy any evidence that he can be revived? Why seal away a book containing such details, rather than just destroy the book? Why leave behind devices related to his revival? It implies to me that somebody wanted Dark Dragon to return at some point, for better or worse.
