A little disappointing

Postby DomingoRules! » Sun Oct 28 2018 4:23pm

I recently picked up original copies of both Shining Force 1 and 2 (this being my very first time owning the first game in its original form). As I waited for them to arrive in the mail, one thing I was looking forward to was checking out the saves. Seeing where they were, and maybe trying a battle or two with a wacky party I normally wouldn't. Would've been a neat experience, but alas neither game lived up to those hopes. For starters, the first game's save battery is dead, so there was nothing there to experiment with. Then the second game at least had a save on it, but only one and it was at the very beginning of the game. Probably the result of the seller actually testing the battery before selling it.

Disappointing, but it's still a nice feel to play the games on an actual Genesis again.

Too bad. It's usually fun to see how someone else was playing the game.

Indeed. That's even how I learned Kokichi exists. I remember renting the game once (by this point, I had already beaten the game multiple times during previous rentals), and I decided to check out the save files before starting my own. One was at the Darksol battle with the hero named RADER (I remember the name for multiple reasons), and he had Kokichi in his party. I remember being like, "Who the hell is that?" and using the first chance I could get on the internet, which might've required being at school back then, to uncover the mystery of that character I had never seen.
