What happened to Wolfgang's site?

Postby Fenix » Mon Mar 02 2015 6:16pm

I use to love this site because it had screenshots of where all the Mithril was, and if I remember correctly, it had some hidden items that were missing from the Jumesyn site. It seems that it's no longer there, but instead is a Lunar site?

It's hosted by the Lunar site. I've no idea why it's down right now though.

It's archived sans any of the images which is what made it useful unfortunately. If anyone knows of an alternative site to show all the hidden items and maps like Wolfgang's site, please share!

I hope Wolfgang doesn't mind but I converted them all to CHM files so they can be viewable offline.

Here is a link to all his sites converted to CHM files: Download Link Here

One interesting file that people should probably check out is his Dragon Force Strategy Guide he released the files on GameFAQs a long time ago but never added them to his official site so it's a guide that only a hand full of people have seen.

I used his websites all the time growing up so I figured I would save them in case his website ever shut down.

Apparently his sites were taken down because the host needed some space and Wolfgang's sites were eating up too much space/ cost. The admin hasn't heard from him in about 12 years but they may still reconnect at some point. Special T has saved us for now, but maybe Wolfgang's sites can go back up at some point.

They could quite easily be added to anyone elses webspace with a subdomain (like forums.shiningforcecentral.com ; sf3trans.shiningforcecentral.com), if anyone has the time to do so :)

Ok guys I need a quick lesson on how to open the site using the files Special T provided. I NEED to be able to use Wolfgang's STHA/SF3 sites. Without them I just lost the ability to finish a personal project Ive spent about 15 years working on and Im about to freak out!
Please, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much Swalchy and Special T! You both have no idea how grateful I am, hopefully I can use this to keep going on (if it works the way I think it does at least). I was going outta my gourd after I found out the news but this is a real life saver. :)

Unfortunately, the only SFII guide I have is the one in the archive. I don't recall seeing one that was different than that.

I'm having some trouble trying to use this. Every time that I load up either of these chm files in this chmviewer program, all it shows is two little icons of a black exclamation mark overtop of a yellow box in the upperleft corner. What's going on here?
Super awesome that these sites have been backed up, but it'd be even awesomer if I could manage to get at 'em. lol

chmviewer should work, I'm not sure what the issue would be.

You could also try sumatrapdfreader, I've never used it but its free and says it reads chm files.

If that doesn't work I would try to google CHM Viewing software and see if anything else works.

Now I'm curious... How is it that I was able to open it without downloading anything? I have Win 7 Home Premium but nothing else special.

I didn't have to install anything either. As long as you are using a Microsoft operating system, chm files should be viewable without the need of independent software. CHM files are just compressed html files into one archive.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_ ... _HTML_Help

Microsoft Compiled HTML Help is a Microsoft proprietary online help format, consisting of a collection of HTML pages, an index and other navigation tools. The files are compressed and deployed in a binary format with the extension .CHM, for Compiled HTML. The format is often used for software documentation.

I believe Windows Vista and onward can open them natively, unless my old install of XP was missing something...
