Shining Force CD: Crash after Gyan joins, Perfect Sync does nothing

I'm playing through the game on Kega Fusion and every time, the game crashes when attempting to go to the next section (Battle 12, after Gyan joins). If I attempt to go to camp or the shop, artifacts appear on screen and the game resets, or I get this message: http://i.imgur.com/SPhCjuq.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I searched around and heard using the Perfect Sync option will do the trick, but it didn't change anything for me. I also fiddled with every conceivable option, and still nothing. Anyone have a solution?

Hmm, it looks as if it's not liking your Sega CD Bios. Have you made sure you have all three (Eur, USA, and Japan) set up in Kega's options? May want to consider getting some new BIOS files and replacing the ones you have.

Could also try and see whether Gens+ can open the BRM save file and whether you can continue that way

Good idea on the different BIOS' but unfortunately that doesn't work either.

Tried Gens+ before and that didn't work.

Oh well I have to give up I suppose.

If you're playing from an ISO file, possibly look at changing the region code on it? Can't remember whether you can do that for Sega CD games or whether it's just a Saturn thing.

If you want, you can attach your save file to a post here and see whether the same thing happens for someone else? Possibly we can save it after the issue and send you the file back

Apparently you can but it seems complicated. I tried to do it with SCDConv and ConvSCD and it wouldn't work. I don't really feel like investigating further.

When did you last do a hard save rather than use a quicksave? As in saving to the actual BRM film and not a gs0 file.

Hey,

I'm here because i start Shining Force CD yesterday and i arrived at the battle in the dock, the 11th. Suddenly, after the battle when i tried to exit the "village", my game came back to the title screen of SegaCD (same for the shop).

I search a solution since one hour and i find one topic in this forum who speak about that and where an user give a solution with a BRM files and a save but i don't know where to put the BRM files and Kega Fusion doesn't recognize the save file (.gs0).
I also heard about a crash after the book 1 but actually that's not my problem actually, maybe later..

So, what is the best emulator for run SFCD and what is the best ROM ? (I have SFCD .iso actually) And about the BRM and saves files, what i need to do with it ?

This game hype me so much and my sad that problem exist :x

Hey, sorry for the up post but i think it's a chance for me :x I tried to create a new topic with the same problem for avoid the up post but I don't know where is he, he disappear without leaving any trace in my profile or anywhere (maybe it's normal with the verification system so I apologize :x)

Well, I play at SFCD with Kega Fusion and rom.iso and i encounter the same problem, I read and test all the advices of Swalchy but I don't understand what to do with the contents of the downloadable .zip (.brm and .gs0 file). I tried to load the gs0 file like a hard savestate but nothing happens except a crash.
I read about a similar problem with the transition between Book I & II, a good utilisation of the .zip's contents will solve this too ?

Hello Jahalex,

If you extract the contents of the downloadable .ZIP file, you should put the .gs0 one in the Kega Fusion -> Savestates folder, and the .BRM file in the Kega Fusion -> Saves -> BRM folder.

Then when you boot up Kega Fusion, it should hopefully allow you to access the next battle.

If you're still having issues after doing the above, let us know.

(Also your English was perfectly understandable. If you let us know your native language, there are other non-English speakers on the forum who may be able to assist you as well )

It's ok for the .BRM file but i didn't find the file Savestates for the .gs0 one (I will add a screenshot to this message). Despite that, I tried to boot up with the new save with the lvl15 Nick from the .BRM file but i had a black screen, dunno if it's normal

Bonjour, Jahalex!

It's likely your "Quick Saves" folder there is the equivalent to my "Savestates". Pop the .gs0 file in there.

If you haven't already, you would need to rename the SHINING FORCE CD.BRM from the .ZIP to match whatever your SFCD save is that doesn't let you progress past battle 12 (though make sure to backup your original save somewhere else before doing the above) before Kega would recognise it properly.
