Huh...one winged angel...where have I seen that before I wonder.

Why are all the related videos for a japanese horse racing game? Strange world.

Probably because a horse racing game is just as interesting as this game will likely be

Hahaha nice :)

Does seem awfully generic anime type stuff with lashings of boobs and emotionless stares.

omg... why is SoJ's Shining Ark dev team trying to copycat the Tales of series? And with stereo-typical T&A Fanservice? Ugh.

This seems more and more like FF. One of them did 9999 damage at one point which has connotations to that series, at least for me.

Fantastic video for me, the music are divine, the towns seems big, there graphism are gorgeous, there is a Dwarf as main character, Sakuya is back, the big bosses seems epic, the difficulty seem more present (the allies attack seems less powerful and the enemy attack seems more powerful)

Looks mediocre.

...and the music's divine? Seriously? Some god-awful singing, and a horribly sounding flute too boot.

Will we see an outside-of-Japan release for it? I won't hold my breath

Still can't tell much more just by looking at the new video, other than the presentation is fairly standard. I could use some actual gameplay footage instead of 10 seconds samples... The hell do you determine difficulty with that?

At least they've clarified that there will be lots of boobies in the game.

I have nearly 200 hour of game on Shining blade (I finished the game 3 times) who use similar gameplay. So I know very well the gameplay, so even short footage like this can help me to make somes constatation:

the area are bigger than into blade (so every move will be more dangerous as enemy attack us during our moves)

the attack of the allies in the video are less effective than into blade

the ennemies attacks in the video are more powerful than into blade.

there is also the players turn system who give more difficulty.

In blade we could use every character when we wanted (even if their attack were less powerful when we resue them in the same turn), it was very useful to protect character with few HP.
The ennemy also played their turn only when our turn was finished (5 moves), so It was easy to kill somes of the ennemies before any of their turn.

It was as in Valkyria Chronicles

Here we can't do that.

It's like in Shining force, we can use a character only when it's his turn(determined by his agility), and enemies turn came using the same system.

So all theses element make the game will be automatically more difficult than Blade.

The only complain I have about the Shining Ark trailer is it seem much less epic than into Blade.

Seriously? Some god-awful singing
The singing is seriously good, that you don't like japanese voices don't make is bad.
and a horribly sounding flute too boot.
Do you know you are talking about music composed by the guy who made Seiken densestu series music?

Shining Blade is not Shining Ark.

Also, good composers are capable of making mistakes, same as anyone else. Disliking Japanese music has nothing to do with it. I like Japanese music, but those voices are far too shrill to be pleasant.

Shining Blade is not Shining Ark.
And what? Their gameplay are similar, the staff is the same And Ark is the direct sequel to Blade (Sakuya return)

We can compare Tears and Wind, so we can compare Blade and Ark, as they are nearly as much similar.
but those voices are far too shrill to be pleasant.
Actually, I love shrill voices, it give a poetical/etheral identity at the song, It's like it was sung by children. It's not epic but so refreshing and innocent.

And the music itself is pretty excellent.

Doesn't mean that they haven't tweaked the balance of the gameplay.

There you go. Other people don't care for shrill voices, so to them it's ear-rape. You like shrill voices, so you like the music. Everyone's entitled to their opinions.

Err... where did I state that I hated the singing because it was a Japanese voice?!

The singing is far too shrilly, barely in tune, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it's a Japanese woman singing.

I honestly can't bring forth the words to express how absurd your comment was towards me.

So? As a flautist myself, that is an awful sounding flute. Whether it's supposed to sound like it doesn't fit in with the rest of the music, I honestly couldn't tell.

Even Mozart's music sounds crap when the instruments used don't sound right

I don't understand how you can tell the attacks are going to be more powerful from enemies in the game just from this. This could be any situation in the game. The characters could have no armour on for the sake of big numbers in a display video. Basically there's zero context offered here.

What's the point in arguments based on highly subjective tastes/points of view. It's kind of pointless in my opinion.

We have valid points on the weaknesses that we precieve (so far) about this game. Trying to impose and argue your views/**opinion*** and doing the white knight defending the princess routine with the rebooted, wanna-be modern "Shining" game is getting tiresome and annoying. I tend to be VERY tolerant of j-pop and that singer's singing was harsh on my ears.

I listen to and enjoy BJORK and THE KNIFE which both has there own unique style of sharp, high-pitched singing that is finely honed into actually pleasant and enjoyable form of musical expression in my opinion. But then generic J-Pop song in Shining Ark is mediocre and a bit harsh on my ears. Remove the lyrics and the background music sounds great though.

The biggest problem with the new Shining games is that they continue to stay as different from the originals as possible.

The music itself was decent enough (though not the style I'd pick for a Shining game, but I digress), but the singing was just awful and downright off key towards the middle. Embarrassingly so.

Also, lol at the art designs.
