A request about a rumor

I'm tired of wondering, are there really two versions of scenario 3? One with and one without the HP bug for Garosh. I'd request that someone (credible: read, not Ansa) undertake this and give a definitive answer.

I would, but I'm pretty dang certain my scenario 3 is one of the old ones with the bug.

What I'd like to determine is if there really are copies that exist that don't contain it. I don't want someone posting "of course there are." I want some proof.

I'd like a picture of Garosh leveling up to 21 and his HP increasing (digital camera, screenshot, whatever).

Anyone with a shred of credibility feel like undertaking this?

I would... though wouldn't be able to provide results for a loooong while. I'm working through the game fully, and am so far only someway through Sc1 (and haven't continued in months)... knowing my current pace and how busy things are, I don't foresee myself getting near the end of Sc3 or the PD for ages.

Plus there's consideration that I have copied versions of Sc2 and the PD, so this may form an issue. (I could try working Garosh up with the Heroes' test in Sc3, though seeing as I couldn't even be bothered to do it a third time with Julian's Force when I first played through Sc3...)

if someone were to provide a cassini or some other emu save, it would be a lot easier to determine this bug. I will do some GS hacking to try to create a save for this to happen, if someone has one please share it

I have to admit, I never had this problem. Im sure my Garosh is past that level and his HP hasn't deteriorated.

I'll have a saved game at the final Heroes Quest so I can check on this but not till the weekend at the earliest.

Gut feeling is that I never had this bug though.

Well, I never chose Garosh, but I'll try again (normally I let him die in Scenario 1) Well, looks like I'm going to play the whole game for the 7th time..

If my plans for the afternoon do fall through as expected, I'll hike out the Saturn and have a looksie. I'm pretty sure it never happened to me, but I can't remember how much I levelled Garosh >.<;; My Sc2 was an early copy, bought new for US$35 around release time!

I might get a screen later, but my Garosh IS level 13 and has around 60 HP.

To clarify, this is to test the bug about Garosh losing 8 HP from level 20 (or 21) to 30 in his second promotion. So it would be in scenario 3.

Can't say I seen a copy without the bug, my copy suffers from it.

I could swear it kicked in slightly later than P3 level 21 with my Garosh, but it been a long time since I've played scenario 3.

On a side note one of SFC forum members a long time ago said the stat bug was in scenario 2 coding, but couldn't take effect till scenario 3 due to the level you had to get Garosh too.

I find it hard to believe that Sega would have printed versions with and without the bug. At the time of Scenario 3 release Sega where all but finished with Saturn's releases.

the tall guy, have you tried e.mailing Camelot and see if they can shed any light on the matter?

i have to tell you something my copy (iso) of scenario one has some enemies errors in spelling, so if the copy of the tall guy it's an iso problaby happens the same or other kind of problems, but if the game it's the cd that's another issue

I have a real disc, of all the scenarios.

Please don't post anymore in this thread, you've completely missed the point of it.

S3M, I've never heard of a copy either, other than Ansa claiming his copy didn't have the bug, hence I'm looking for a (credible) source to say the same thing.

And I haven't emailed Camelot, I probably should, I would think they of all people could confirm or deny the rumor.

Might I suggest something for an additional test.

It takes place in scenario 3, but you don't have to play scenario 2 to make the right save data for scenario 3. Someone should use a pd to create data with garosh in medion's team and find out what happens with that.

Though it may not be the disc... there are so many other factors.... Maybe factors related to syncronization points, not sure, but there are three discs to check, Garosh appears on Scenario 1 too... Geez, hard to figure this out.

Tried to level him up without attacking, removed his weapon and used a Healing Drop to Heal Julian: still lost 8 HP. At least this doesn't happen to my favorite chars, lol, but poor Garosh fans.

i could try the other discs, that too will take some time, and if i truly feel like doing it..... but that would really be pointless. The file is out there to test, thats all that is needed for the bug

There are alot of factors that could make a different outcome:
1.problem is created at character creation, which happens at either scenario 1 or scenario 2. This may be altered if you start out with a scenario 3 save and Garosh is generated there instead.
2.problem happens based on current cd garosh levels up on (scenario 3 or pd).
3.problem happens to those who hacked Garosh/Jade and/or Produn/Edmund
4.problem is created due to bad compression techniques when saving to cartridge or saturn system, which brings in question of which saturn your running and what cartridge your using.

My Garosh is prepromoted in the teens 1st promotion. But I started with a japanese scenario 1 disc, Ill give my report when I finally get there, but it will take a long long time before I get there.

My guess is that somewhere there is a table for chances for stats to go up and by how much on what levels for what character, and somewhere in this table Garosh is messed up on a few levels. If this is the case hacking the iso may help.

Just to confirm this bug goes on for 10 levels 21-30 correct?
