Hacking STHA
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyones ever tried to extract textures or models out of Shining the holy ark.
I think this game is beautiful and would like to reconstruct the environments in 3D studio max just as they are in the game.

I wish I could do that, but yeah I wouldn't be able to do that.
The only file I know about inside the game iso is X09.bin which only deals with stats really. Sorry. D:

Hnmm Its ok, There is one way to get ahold of the textures using an emulator,
but its very slow. and would take forever, as its a manual process of saving each one at a time.
( done by displaying the textures using built in functions of the emulator than dumping it)
It only works while the textures are loaded up into the emulators memory,
which requires each level in the game to be accessible within the emulator,
Anyone have a near complete save state on hand?
Edit: i don't think dumping animated sprites would be easy as it seems it only dumps the current texture on screen in some games using sprites.

Well, the entire iso is loaded into the emulator from what I've seen, or at least most of it.tuxmask75 wrote:Hnmm Its ok, There is one way to get ahold of the textures using an emulator,

Oh, it seems X09.bin actually might have some colors for the menu in it, I don't understand it though, but I changed one of the pointers in the file and most of the colors in the menu changed, maybe I'll look into that more later... o-o;
I can give you my save when I get the chance if ya want. ^^;

I have 2 saves, forgot which 1 is which, but it's up to the end of the game.
They are save files, not save states, but should work with any SSF version.

Have fun. One of these should be a save with the whole world unlocked. They probably were used for hard mode, but it shouldn't effect you getting textures.

Re: Hacking STHA
Hey RikaPSO, in one of your savefiles, Akane has items which i've never seen before! Like the Alladin Lamp, Cygnus Mallet, Giant Bomb, Shark Fins and the Treasure Box!! I had the official manual of StHA and i don't remember seeing these items in it. Where did you got them?RikaPSO wrote:http://www.mediafire.com/?6xaf5ymaxfzylwe

Re: Hacking STHA
I was looking for what hex addresses were for each item and came across those. They either don't do anything or have a pixie bell use. They can't be found in the game normally. I guess they were planned to be something along the lines of those special items in Shining in the Darkness.

Re: Hacking STHA
Hey, were you able to find any unused weapons, spells, enemies, and that sort of like while messing around with hacking StHA? You know, like what was found while hacking Shining Force 3. And quite a few things unused were found in SF3 (all too from just looking at the memory card file ). Even a dropped character... only without a battle sprite. >_< ... But yeah, you find anything? If no, please look!
