Domingo in Gaiden 1

I'm playing SF Gaiden right now and I can't find Domingo in the same bush you find him in SF CD. Is his location different?

EDIT: I found him. Turns out he is in the empty space between bushes to the RIGHT of the lake in this version. What's even stranger is the fact that hints found on several gaming-related websites all say that he is in the bushes above the lake.

People probably just assume it's the same, without ever having played the original themselves.

But above the lake is not the same as in SF CD. In SF CD, he is to the left of the lake! That's what confused me, the guides are misleading.
