Shining Force: Shining Force Jogurt Hack

A while back when rubixcuber editor came out, I messed around with making Jogurt a more decent character. (I mentioned that somewhere in the editor's thread) Anyways I finally sat down got rid of the kinks (mentioned in the thread) and decided to upload an ips.

Most of this is thanks to rubixcuber's editor, if anything this shows a little of what it can do.

(I could do in-game screenshots if necessary).

So here it is, a patch that makes Jogurt into a normal character who levels up and gains stats and all that fun. (He uses swords, because, well... why not).

Everything seems to work right, but I didn't do much testing, so If there's any problems mention them and I'll try and figure out what's wrong. (If you're playing this hack on a previous save/savestate, Jogurt will have 1s for his stats, although he will gain more after a level up).

If anyone for whatever reason decides that they want to use this in conjunction with a hack of their own go right ahead.

I think he starts of with the Jogurt ring gives 255 stats to all attributes lol.

I'm actually not sure, read: can't remember. I did edit the ring to only be equip-able by Jogurt and to improve some stats of his slightly, nothing that should over power him.

Maybe it turns him into Max, and so he takes Max's place sealing Dark Dragon? Then the ending changes, and the story for the Gaiden games explode.

Oohhhh interesting plot twist. Reason Max makes it out is because it wasn't Max but rather Jogurt that goes down with the castle

Okay I took the time to test to see what happens, Jogurt does get the ring in his first level up, but not in following level ups.

The ring stats are a +4 bonus to defense and is equip-able by Max, Gong, Jogurt, and Healers. (Its more or less a specialized Shield Ring)

Its price is 39, so it's not worth very much either.

Also for those who just want to test Jogurt out, use this code 0185f2:701D. This lets Jogurt join instead of Luke. (It will appear that Luke joins, but not really)

Anyone tried this hack out?

I applied the ips patch to a .bin rom and can't see any change to the rom through the editor.
Jogurt Level is not ticked.
His growth curves are set to 0.
No graphs changes either.

I haven't playtested to see what happens, but found it very strange...

I did playtest this, and can confirm that there were no changes to Jogurt or the rest of the game. I quadruple checked to make sure that the patch was applied properly. It's a shame, I really wanted to try this.

I'm sorry about this guys I'm not sure what's going on.

There certainly should be more going on. Jogurt should play with a different animination, he should gain levels, and should get a jogurt ring level one which shouldn't change anyone else into a yogurt but give some defense.

I'll check into this. I'm thinking I might have screwed up the IPS. I just wish I had known the IPS wasn't working a lot sooner.

All right I've made another IPS. I tested it and it seems to work, that is I patched the rom and loaded it in the editor and it had the edited data. If things are not all fixed, I'll take deeper look. I'm sorry about taking so long to get a different patch up.
