And here i am about a year and some months later, reading the entire topic again, as a some sort of present given to myself (today is my birthday). I just love this, and im glad to see, that this topic it's not definetly dead and that will go on, telling to every SF1 lover all of this great data. It was refreshing reading this all again. Lot of stuff i just forgot and will be of use now that im directing a game of Pathfinder, heavily based on Shining Force: The legacy of great intention's story. Love to all of you and again, many thanks for your work TUM.

That is funny tomorrow is my birthday and I am rereading this section :) Must be a mandatory birthday ritual. I wish we had a truly translated guide book to look through. It would be a thing of beauty. This is a very nice thread put together. Thanks again for everyone that pitched in.

You're welcome, but honestly, all I did was bring it to the attention of O'Neill and supply him with the scans (which in turn were supplied to me by someone else.)

I have no idea where he is, but I hope he's doing well.

Hate to ask, but, anyone got an available scan of this?

First Megaupload, then Photobucket...

Be nice if SFC itself hosted these scans. :excited:

On Pao having a great army. I would have never imagined it. But now tha I read it, it does sound interesting cause you never see them heh. Im guessing becuase of limitations of the technology back, or perhaps becuase of deadlines, alot of stuff was probably cut from the game. I mean, here they go to great lengths to describe the world for us and yet alot of stuff never made it ingame. Probably in part due to Sega's reluctance to improve funding for Sonic Software Planning.

And I don't quite get the thing about the song "traveller from a long time ago". What, Max is from the past?

On a side note, something interesting to think about just for fun. In that one pic that never made it ingame, with Lowe dragging Max out of shore, imagine if by some time/space loop continuum, Max has floated all the way from the castle of the ancients after defeating Dark Dragon. Yes, Shining Force starts exactly after it ends. Anyone seen Lost? Yeah, playing around with time. Shining Force was quite ahead of its time!
And the shining force 1000 years ago was them?!

And Pao has a great army? Where is it then?
Walk north of Bustoke...suddenly forest everywhere.
Where is that Shining book?
My best guess it's one of 4 possible books, of which I own 2.

I can't find the 4th one but it looks like the encyclopedia but in green.

Yep don't have that one, I figured one was enough and then wanted the one with the CD :damnit:

I gather that's the setting/world book

Also genuinely the likely reason for Mishaela being the only woman in the runefaust army was to inject an attractive female character

E:so I have this book now.

Missing characters: Musashi, Hanzou, Earnest, Domingo, Torasu, Alef, Bleu, Adam and Jogurt.

I've got a little pamphlet I scanned in a thread with some background on them but I suspect the other info might be in the guide book which is linked and advertised on the back of this book.

Cover art is this one if anyone has it to check
