Welp... I guess that's the last of the first wave of Rock n Rollers that I really cared about. Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper were gone in the 50's, and Elvis has been dead for a good long while as well. Granted I wasn't big on Fat Vegas Elvis, Chuck Berry really didn't have an era like that.
What's more he was pretty much the one who brought the Blues Virtuosity into the Rock movement, and more or less helped pave the way for the later stuff that I really like, namely The Rolling Stones. That kind of aggressive guitar sound was spawned from a lot of that Chuck Vibe, and the audience was primed by his T-Bone Walkeresque shreddeery.
Shitty, but inevitable. At least he was old as f*ck.
