What did I forget, and/or what am I missing. (And it's getting increasingly hard to find good shit since the internet is saturated in music, and there is no longer any large scale promotion for new talent.
I think he personally is going in a different direction that what his fans want from him but still writing comparably. With Transcendence I've really got to recommend the Deluxe edition. I think the extras have some of the strongest stuff, and are oftentimes considerably heavier and more straight forward than what made the canon album.
It's good stuff, but I have a hard time spending too much time listening to it from start to finish because it doesn't necessarily keep me engaged past the aforementioned first few songs which was one of the problems that I had with Sky Blue, which has admittedly grown on me quite a bit. (I think Z2 was much more live material coupled with a lot of mellow poppy stuff in Sky Blue. I f*cking love Dark Matters Live, hated the album... Stupid I know.)
Oh, and I can't believe I didn't mention Fallujah's Dreamless album. Absolutely astounding stuff. Abandon has to be one of my favorite things they've ever done.
One of my favorite youtube comments ever. "I stopped my porn for this. But I didn't stop masturbating."
