I'd've liked it if the Hero's Test on Disc 3 had infinite respawning monsters like the one from Disc 2. Would've saved a lot of grinding time and/or use of an AR to create a barrel of Brave Apples.
Fighting Bulzome was fun. As I'm a major item saver, it was nice to finally say 'We're pulling out all the stops!' and break out every Potion, Healing Rain, and Hope Light I had, even if I only used one of them. I didn't read ahead about not killing Jane when she attacks, but intuitively I figured her status would alter the ending so I just let hit Leon without him or anyone else hitting back. This is another battle I'd like to try on Insane, where I suspect I'll need those Hope Lights and Healing Rains.
Switching to Story:
First thing I'm wondering is about Rodi; I know he was mentioned as a rival to Yasha, but did we run into him at any point? Was he one of those High Priests either on Ark Hill for the Innovator Ascension or in Remotest to Super-Promote the soldiers?
Kahn posed the question I've been asking since Holy Ark. Any time Galm appeared, whether he was bringing Lisa to us, or providing guidance to Medion and Synbios, I found myself wanting somebody to say "You're a Vandal from the Thousand Year Kingdom, which we're trying to prevent from returning. Why are you helping us?" But I'm starting to think the secret discussion with Elise is why: He only wants it with himself at the top and needed to eliminate competition. Funny how Vandal power struggles work.
I think I picked up that Jane is Garvin's daughter, but who was her mother, and is that why she's an 'Inferior Innovator'?
But perhaps most of all is the volume of 'What could have been':
Would Galm have eventually become the Big Bad in a new game?
Or what X-Factor would Elise have presented?
What happened back down south? Did Emperor Domaric still have big visions of re-taking Aspia? Was Mageron going to be the next Emperor? And how would that affect the Imperials who joined the Shining Force?
I get the feeling there were plans for the Rainbloods that had to be cut due to lack of dev time. Even at the very end, the books at HQ say 'Their identities remain a mystery'. When we defeat them, they just vanish.. I was hoping somebody would ask 'Who's under that mask?' and reveal an Imperial (or even a treacherous Aspinian) we had seen before. My favorite guess: King was really Mageron. I also wonder if there an unfinished or otherwise cut battle that involved all 6 Rainbloods with their Disc 2 stats (or higher even), since it was made clear that the Rainbloods are most powerful when all are together.
Would've been nice to see a reunion with Arthur (from Holy Ark). Maybe even get to hear him talk!
I'm Musashi; I hope this has been a good read.
